It's a known fact that bars "spring up". That is they are not built but spontaneously erupt out of reality when enough people of the kind that would frequent a particular type of bar congregate. This is why hipsters are so dangerous and despised. Well…one of the reasons.

Originally constructed as an oasis for “brighter” entities in a void, πιθος, or The Shot in the Dark, was converted into a prison for the creatures those entities felt deserved to be imprisoned. That turned out to be a description for just about anything that wasn’t like them. Funny how that works out. The attempt failed.

The bar now is a haven for things that don’t want to be found or wish to remain hidden and generally left alone. Which is ironic because everyone knows that those things reside at The Shot in the Dark. But being hidden doesn’t exclude doing so in plain sight. Wanting to be left alone doesn’t exclude deliberately informing everyone exactly where you are. For one, the Shot in the Dark is hard to get to and hard to find. For another, anyone who would show up on at its doorway is known to either be seeking isolation themselves, or the incredibly stupid type actively looking for trouble.

Patrons of the bar have access to anything and everything they could ever want, in terms of food, drink and entertainment. (Keep in mind that not many of the entities that confine themselves to the bar need to eat or drink, but, depending on what they’re fed, they find it highly entertaining).
